This commercial is about a detergent in which a black nude guy appears and tries to court the Chinese woman standing next to the washing machine. When he approaches closer and closer to the woman, she suddenly shoves him into the washing machine and added the detergent. After the process of washing, a Chinese boy with light skin tone magically appears from the washing machine and she seems to be content.

In my opinion, this commercial is susceptible of promoting racism because it associated undesirability with people of black race. By analogy, according to the logic of the commercial, the black guy is like dirt that has to be processed and cleansed by the detergent and the desired outcome is a guy with a lighter skin tone. It is so lamentable and ridiculous that these kinds of commercials are still condoned in the 21st century.

I remember my friend showing me this commercial and I was stunned. It honestly makes me wonder about racial segregation in that part of the country though. I've never been to China but after seeing this commercial, I'm curious to know if this is a common thing in Chinese media. I'm not calling the entire country racist but it just makes me wonder how common this kind of thing is. Because honestly the only place you would ever see something like that here in the states would more than likely be on a comedic spoof of some sort.

I'd really just like to know what kind of response this commercial got when it first aired. It's certainly gone viral in America but for the a slightly different reason.

I remember this commercial, I think I found this commercial out from Teens React. I found it in one of their videos, where Teens were ask to react in the commercial and for me seeing the commercial for the first time I was confused on what happened and upon repeating, I found that the person has changed upon being washed in the machine. For me I was in discussing disbelief and thought it was a joke and not really a commercial but upon research has I found that the commercial was actually aired and was a legit meant commercial, which after reading that I was totally in awe of the situation as well.
