www.mtv.com/news/2953605/miley-cyrus-hopeful-hippies-campaign/

After the presidential campaign, which has been disappointing to a lot of people who voted for the democrat candidate Hilary Clinton, Miley Cyrus has been one of the celebrities that is greatly against the rule of Donald Trump. Prior to the voting day, she has announced that she would move from United States if Trump became the president. Now she has changed her attitude, she turned the sadness into action by mobilizing the people to contribute to their community by donating, volunteering, or showing your support instead of protesting and crying.

In my opinion, celebrity has a lot of power in influencing the behavior of people. It is good that she suggest people use realistic and practical way to do something to change the society instead of lingering on the past. Whining and protesting may not be the solution given that all results have been settled. Getting involved in our own community is a very good idea in the United States because every people can participate not just the influential and rich ones. This is to make our country better.

Hi Jiayue, I also read the comments Miley Cyrus made about Trump winning the presidency. I agree that it's extremely productive for celebrities to use their platform to educate. I especially think it's critical for this issue because there are so many people upset over his elect. I don't think we should eliminate protesting as a form of resistance though, because peaceful protest has proven to have successful outcomes. It's definitely important for citizens to be involved in their community, and protesting can easily be one of those ways to organize.

Hi Jiayue,
Great reading your response, and the attached link. I also read about this on a Buzzfeed article, and I think what Miley Cyrus and many other celebrities (Lena Durham, Chloe Moretz, etc.) are doing is very inspiring and revolutionary. If you think about how many millennials that follow them, it's a real audience and a platform that they have access to and it's refreshing to see the political influence they're promoting. I recently also saw that Bernie Sanders had been interviewed on CNN, where he urged all of his supporters to stop worrying about Trump's win and start acting upon it.

Although America is still in shock and hurt about what has happened in this past election I feel as though we are still hoping for better. Trump has made his election about hate and all we want to do is make sure that the people who supported him for that alone dont think its ok for that kind of hate to be in america. Celebrities do have the power to influence people, especially young people so its nice to see so many openly going against Trump and everything he stands for. This will influence everyone to still hope for the best and make sure our government will not do as they please. The government will have to go through the right hoops to please the country and I think thats good.

While I never take anybody seriously when they say "I'm moving to Canada if so-and-so wins" I was against that symbolic statement during this election because the people saying they were moving to Canada were largely people in positions of power. I think that we should build each other up and do everything we can top make this country the kind of place we dream of for our children. I'm glad that Miley is taking action. I hope that it will inspire others to take action as well.

I think her overall message was that you should be the change you want to be, and if every individual where to live by this I think our world would be a better place. But I disagree on how she says we shouldn't cry or protest. Crying can help relive stress, and it is important for us to express our emotions in a healthful way. I also highly disagree about her statements on protesting. Protesting has gotten great people into creating change. It is our right to peacefully asemble a protest. If large groups of people protest It will obviously affect the white house. They always want to makeat the large population content in order to avoid chaoas.
