Kony 2012
A week ago I had never heard the name Kony before and the only thing I knew about Uganda was that it is a country in Africa. After watching the video “Kony 2012” I know a lot more, and the topic is now a burning issue. I am sure I am not the only one, all my friends have seen it and many of them are joining events such as “Cover the Night” in different cities all over the world. Out of nowhere Uganda and Kony made their way into millions of peoples’ minds. I bought a bracelet to show my support in the fight to capture Kony before 2012 ends.
The video is really powerful and inspiring, once you start watching it, it is impossible to stop before it is done.It is very effective to include to include the film makers son in the video, not only is he sweet as sugar, but seeing a child’s reaction to Kony and the issue is interesting and it makes it easier for people who haven’t heard about Kony to understand what the issue is about, and it is also makes the video a little “lighter” and easier to watch when the horrible facts about what is going on in Uganda is mixed up with scenes of a innocent playing child from the West.
In one day millions of people had seen the video about Kony and were ready to join the movement to make a difference. Critical voices have come from Uganda, arguing that the video makers didn’t think about what consequences the video would have and that it is not of any help. Clearly watching the 30 min video is not enough to get a full understanding of the conflict in Uganda, but the video is a very good initiative and it has given well-needed attention to Uganda. Hopefully the video makers will see their dream come true, Kony gone before the end of 2012.

I agree that video is so inspiring.I want to buy a bracelet too. I can't believe that it lasted it for so long. I actually now can't stand the face of that man. I just don't like it. I want people like that to be put away. People like that shouldn't be allowed to get away with something like that for that long it's terrible. I also want to join in for the Cover the Night thing, but i probably won't, but will be excited to wake up the next morning to see all the posters everywhere.
