I just this video today and it has been one of the better and most influential videos I have seen recently. The speaker, Roger Seip, brought to light one potential way for people to feel better about themselves and the world, just ask yourself, What is funny about this? and What am I greatful for? For me both of these questions are a way at finding positives in a world where we have been wired to exaggerate the negatives. One example in which I think the first question would help is during a stressful exam. What is funny about the situation of a stressful exam? I can imagine if you looked up you could find one person cheating, or completely freaking out, and to me I would find that amusing, and it would definitely help me relax. Even the question what am I grateful for? works in this situation. In reality there are so many people who can not even afford to take the class you are taking, or that do not have a home to go to after the test it done that there is no real reason to be stressed. While grades are important while attending school, in the scope of the world they are useless. Nothing bad is going to happen if you get a B on an exam and not an A, maybe you won't get into your number one university but the fact that you are in school in the first place is more than a lot of people have. These are just a few examples I thought of in which these questions do indeed lighten up yourself and the world around you.
