In the peek of the week, I was excited as I finally was able to watch Don't Breathe, which was a great movie which had me excited and kept me in suspense and gripping my chair til the end. I totally love the film for it has an original premise and at the same time a twisted who would you root for sense as in the film there isn't truly an innocent figure to root for til the end as both sides do present a dark past, it's either you side with the blind man who is the main antagonist to the film or the kids who are thieves who attempt to rob the blind man. In the sense you would indeed root for the kids as they are the figures who are being hunted down, but if looked at a deep perspective, they are also in a sense antagonistic as their sole purpose is to rob the blind man.
Also the main thing I loved about the film is playing with one of the greatest fears of most people and that is the dark. A previous movie that recently came out "Lights Out used the concept fear as well," and in Don't Breathe there is a specific scene, without spoiling anything big, a moment where the teens are trapped in the dark by the blind man and that to me was the most intense part of the film as the audience as well are placed in the dark as you can't see a thing as well and for me that was the icing to the cake.
The movie does present a good twist in the middle and I must say that one scene nearing the end got me shaking and questioning if I am seeing what I was really seeing, the movie is exciting and definitely a gripping roller coaster ride. I must say that it was impactful as well and held a meaning of breaking free and a search for a better life, as one of the characters does it all just to achieve that, was a side I love as well in the film as it gave the character a colorful story and at the same time kept viewers wanting to root for that said character.
