It's finally December which means Christmas is fast approaching! Christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year where everything is bright and colorful and happy with lots of decorations and cheer. It also means that our bank accounts are starting to get quite sad as we being to buy our gifts for family and loved ones while we can get the best deals possible. For many years as a child, it's socially acceptable to give an adult a hand-drawn card and a seashell covered picture frame made in the classroom for everyone to aww and admire. However once you have become an age where money has become a reality, that is no longer an acceptable idea. I, as a full-time employee and student have some opportunities that most children my age wouldn't in regards to gift giving because I am physically working longer hour, however at a certain point, how much is too much to be spending on everyone before you run out of the savings for yourself and your future? Baking has been one of my favorite holiday pastimes for ages. I love the family participation and sense of accomplishment felt when you finish a bunch of batches and they're all cooling- sitting beautifully and colorfully on the kitchen table. I would like to suggest to myself and some of my fellow broke college students to give the gift of some homemade baked goods this holiday. Although you aren't spending a lot of money on the person, the thought that goes into the packaging and the effort that goes into each set of cookies is more than enough!
