Earlier this week I read a disturbing article how most college graduates were either unemployed or underemployed. It showed how the college graduates that did have jobs were doing jobs that had nothing to do with their skills and BA degree that they earned. They are getting by with lower wage jobs like waitressing, cashier clerk, bartending, or being a receptionist. When they should actually be a elementary teacher or interior designer. They are settling because now that they are out of college they need to set boundaries and decide what is most important. Some have huge massive loans to pay back while others have to pay rent.

I think this is a sad and huge problem when you are trying to look for a part time job and they WON'T hire you anymore unless you have a degree. Waitressing and being a Clerk should not have to require a degree but nowadays since their are so many graduated college students they will tend to hire the person with the BA degree v.s. the person that is still working on their degree. I feel that the economy needs to get back up so that people can live out their true intentions and achieve what they started. I know saying the economy should get better won't do it much good but having hope does enlighten you sometimes.

What do you guys think about this issue? How do you feel about this?

Wow. This made me a feel like hopeless student. With the cost of schooling on the rise how can you make something of your life when you aren't even ensured a job once you leave.

I just hope by the time i graduate from college and receive my degree the economy will be better. I would hate to have gone through all this time and money only to come and find out it was all put to waste when there are no jobs available that would at least offer the salary i will be fully qualified to make.

This is very depressing because here in the U.S., we are paying high in taxes and getting little back. We have to pay for all of our medical and educational needs. While we are putting forth so much money to get the proper education, many students are still jobless! This is ridiculous.

This is just so sad but also so annoying!! I mean we all who goes to college pay a lot of money but also a lot of time and effort to reach the goal of finish school with a education that will be enough for what we one time expected when we began to study. I am an international student from Sweden and I think it is really unfair for all students, both americans and internationals, who want to work with a profession that they have an well earned education for. I really hope that this get better and I wish I knew how to make things better. Like you say, I hope the economy gets better.
