This scenario of parents being found overdosed in a car while they have their kids in the backseat has become to be too common. There was a woman in Indiana found unconscious with a needle still in her hand while her 10-month-old was crying in the backseat, a grandma and her friend in Ohio were found by police passed out after using heroin with her 4-year-old grandson in the backseat, and there was a video of a toddler in Massachusetts trying to wake up her mom who overdosed at a store. It’s heartbreaking seeing the pictures and watching the video because no child should have to witness this from their parents. There is no excuse or reason for these parents or family members, who clearly suffer from addiction, to have a child in their care. When you have a child, the responsible thing to do is accept that you have an addiction and try to seek help so you can be a good parent and be there for your child. If a parent loves their child, they should do everything they can to be 100% there for them, physically and mentally. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen as we see from the news. In these cases, family members should have an intervention or take responsibility of the child/children. Children should be removed from these toxic environments so they aren’t affected by how they are living and what they witness.

It is tragic that as I read. How sad that fully grown adult doesn't have responsibility to take care of their children. How sad that the kids are growing while watching these kind of scenes such as overdosing. It is true that children will be affected by the living environment. I strongly believe that children is our future as well as nation's future. I really hope that parents would lead the right path instead of showing those stupid things to their kid.

These people obviously need help and don't deserve a child. Kids are already so defenseless and at risk for so much happening to them without their parents or should I say a responsible adult. When a parent is under the influence they are not in a state of mind to care for a child. I do not think it is ok for parents to be drunk or high around their children. I think if people want to have what they might call a good time they should do it on their own time not around their children. I think if a parent is addicted to something stronger like heroin or cocaine they should not be allowed to have custody of their children until they have gone through a program where they have cleaned themselves of drugs and overcome their addiction.

Some people don't deserve to have children. People should be getting help for drug problems especially if they have kids to take care of. Children have enough problem to deal with. They have to deal with the normal struggles of growing up. I hope that people get as much help as they need with those problems.

I believe that family members should call Child Protective Services because in the end parents who have an addiction are not capable of taking care of other human beings. It probably is hard to have to make that kind of decision, but it is to protect the children. If parents are conscious that they have addiction it is better to give temporary custody to family members in order to be able to seek help in order to get well for their children. Children should not have to witness these types of circumstances because in the end they can also fall in these behaviors because they see it as something normal. Hopefully, parents realize that they are not providing a safe environment for their children, and should find the will to change and be someone better for their family.

It is a really crazy world to see parents doing such thing knowing that they have children with them. The children are the ones who suffer the most because of the parents actions, the children are left vulnerable to danger since these overdoses are occurring while being in a car. I just doesn't make sense to me why they would do such thing while being aware that they have children. The can go to a rehabilitation center to better themselves to be able to take care of their children. There are many things that parents can do for that not to be happening .
