noun: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.

I do not really enjoy talking about politics simply due to my lack of knowledge in the subject, however I came across this word in an old written speech of Theodore Roosevelt. I decided to give it a check, and found this definition. I felt like this perfectly explains at least one, if not all of our political candidate this election year. I don't know why this has to be my first year voting, but I get frustrated when I look back to elections of the past where answer were more clear.

I am looking forward to seeing what transpires this election year, but am hesitant about what the effect on our country will be when the dust clears. I just though everyone should have this word in their arsenal.
