The Daily Show is a form of comic relief that mocks political issues currently going on. It is considered to be a “news” show on Comedy Central. I was just looking at different videos regarding this election and came across this one. Throughout this election, media has heavily influenced the amount of people it's influencing. With Twitter being a popular social media platform, both parties have taken full advantage of that. With Twitter they are now able to reach the mostly younger voters. This is a clip is basically framing both candidates in a negative way due to things they have said or done.

In this clip the guy is basically talking about how both candidates Clinton and Trump are terrible. He starts by discussing Clintons email scandal. They showed what she had said previously when asked if she used a non-work related email sending classified information and completely denied it. Then they show the head of the FBI completely saying the opposite of what was found. After that they show clips of Trumps speeches where he praises Saddam Hussein for killing terrorists, but he just killed many large groups of people and of course there had to have been a few terrorists present. He then concludes the show by joking that there just shouldn't be an election.

I don’t know how we managed to get ourselves in this predicament, but both candidates are very lousy. Clinton unfortunately lost many Americans trust when lying about the email scandal, but she also has a lot of political experience being the Senator of New York and also the Secretary of State under the Obama administration. Trump on the other hand has no political experience and always states many taboo things. He is a great talker when criticizing the Obama administrations work, but never came up with substantial and realistic solutions. We’re now in a situation of bad and worse in my opinion. Clinton would be bad, but Trump worse.

Michelle, I feel the exact same way. I think it's sad what poor choices we have for our future president. I'm honestly (and I know I shouldn't be) so reluctant to vote. But I, like most people around me, know it's better to choose bad (Clinton), over worse (Trump). I just think it's unfortunate that these are the choices and decisions that people have to make (which is the "lesser" bad). I also constantly find myself wondering how the situation became like this and find it very worrying. Thanks for sharing!

This dilemma makes me wonder do we have a real democratic society or just a pseudo-democratic society given that the choice of candidates are so limited that we literally have no choice. We are not voting for the president that we desire but we are voting in order not to let the evil one to become the president, which is quite lamentable. Theoretically, every U.S. born citizens can become a presidential candidate but practically those with media support and a lot of financial resources tend to succeed. Candidate needs to have huge support from political parties in order to win and U.S. politics is so polarized rather than diverse as in Germany.

Hi Michelle!
I really liked what you said about social media being a big part of this election. Social media has helped information about the election be understood by a much wider ranger of people, which will probably help up the voting rates. With this though comes a lot of people who don't know much about how politics or the media works, and people like that can be easily manipulated. Although this years candidates aren't ideal there's a lot of misinformation about both candidates floating around the internet it's important for everyone to vote so we end up with a president who like you said, might be bad, but not as bad as Trump.

I have also spent a lot of time wondering if I really should vote for Clinton. I do agree that she is the lessure of two evils, however, I just do not agree with the type of election she has run so far. Her views are very extreme. It is hard for me to get on board with her. It is very difficult though to make this decision because i absolutely do not want Donald Trump in office. I do not agree with his politics or what he stands for

Most of the citizens in the United States are worried by this coming president election. At this moment, it is most likely either Trump or Clinton to be the president of the country. I realized that most of the people have no comment on this president election because Clinton has lost to American due to her white house secret e-mail and Trump has been saying presidential strategy that can't be implanted. Also, he is forcing China to do something such as eliminating Kim Jung Eun, North Korea leader. Worst thing is he spoke this kind of things in the public news where all around the world can hear him. He should have watched his mouth. It is very rude to speak out sensitive topic in the public when terror is going on and world is tense due to political issue. In my opinion, we have to accept one of them and pray that one of the future president lead America well.
