Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has announced that his firm, Snap Inc., will be releasing video-recording glasses called Spectacles. The device looks like a normal pair of glasses, but is equipped with a camera that records 10 second increments of video (like the app). The lens is said to record an image that is much closer to that which the human eye sees as opposed to regular phone cameras. I find it pretty interesting. I personally wouldn't use it. Although I enjoy the app, I normally don't record with it when I'm actually out doing stuff because for me it detracts from the experience (concerts, dates, hiking, etc). I wonder if avid Snapchat users will even want to purchase and use this new device. I think what people like about snapchat is the ability to be the star of their own reality and manipulate it how they please. It's pretty much ego (don't get me wrong, I enjoy it too). I wonder if you removed the selfie element from it, if it would still be a success.
What do you guys think?
