We've wll heard about the recent "explodegate" scandal from the Samsung Note 7, and the whole media craze warning for owners to return their phones, return the recall replacements and potentially settle for the newest Apple iPhone model.
However, this image (in link below) of a user's burnt/exploded iPhone 7plus recently went viral and started a campaign for a iPhone explodegate scandal.

Apparently what happened was that someone on the SNS site Reddit uploaded the photo, claiming that it had arrived in that condition from a pre-order shipment. Similar to how the Samsung recall went, the user claimed that both Apple and AT&T reached out to him and offered to send a replacement phone.
This incident could be assessed in several ways. For one it could just be w joke or something like an Internet meme crested in a mockery attempt to create a viral trend. There are chance that it could've been an actual picture of a phone that did explode, but as the writer of this Mashable article states, prior physical damage to the phone's structure or packaging could've actually been the cause behind the explosion, not the battery itself.
What do you guys think? Do you think this is an actual occurrence? Or just a media hoax?

i personally do not think iphone 7 will ever have this kind of problem. i am not a big fan of iphone and also use samsung, but i feel like iphone has better quality than samsung in some ways. therefore, i do not worry i will ever buy a boom from apple. lol. however, samsung has better functions, and i like andriod more than the system in iphone, and that is the most important reason i like to use samsung. overall, i think the exploding note 7 is just the accident and will be fixed real quick.
