Children are being exposed to technology at ever decreasing ages. What age is too young? I hear stories about children accidentally making in-app purchases because they have no concept of money yet. I also now about studies that say that young children have no concept of advertisements, that is, they can't tell their tv shows apart from ads. When they use cell phones/tablets, there is no child mode to prevent ads or anything from getting through to them. does that mean parents should never give their phones to their kids to occupy them? I don't know.

I think it's terrible to have children use technology at such a young age because of the idea of instant gratification and this goes into the realm of escapism. Whenever one feels bad or whenever they need to run away, technology would be their go to place because of how easy it is to run away to. It's also gives comfort and it instantly gratifies. Especially when the child has not much life experience to realize that, there is lack of self-control (and it's not their fault because our brain is not wired to deal with overstimulants) and the child will learn from a very young age that when life gets hard that they should forgo the pain for temporary pleasures. It's a really tough one because today because hardly anyone these day actually is able to really overcome them. So, I would say no age is ever too young. I think everyone regardless of age should avoid technology as much as possible because we weren't evolved enough to really deal with this in the first place.

As my family didn't grow up with such technologies they had a strict policies when it came time for me to have my first phone or even computer. I believe that my earliest cellphone was acquired when I was about 11 or 12 years old and that was a flip phone. My mom emphasized the reasons on why she believed that waiting til I hit doible digits was important because with such technologies, they do have all the imported apps and the shortcuts that allowed people to easily acquire answers and solve problems in an instant and with that in mind my mother didn't want me to easily form a reliance to such methods, so she waited as I had to learn first the basics and the long way to solve problems without google instead to look up answers in textbooks, or use critical inking to solve equation isntead of using calcultors or entering a problem in google. In a way it was for the better as in life it is truly important to not be so as reliant on machines and know how to do the methods in the original and distinct ways as possible.
