Technology such as computers, robots and information sciences has provided artists with new ways to express their creativity and artistic inspirations. With 3D and digital software and materials available to create works of art, and technology has gotten more innovative as the years pass. Artists have began to transition from being painters and sculpturers and opting for graphic design and more modern forms of art.
One case in point is Russian artist named Dmitry Morozov who has connected technology with art, and has made a plan to “make pollution beautiful”. He started off by building a technological device (image on the right) which has built in sensors and parts that measures the amount of pollutants and chemicals in the air. Experimenting in his hometown of Moscow, he later used the device to transcribe data of the sensors into a computer software program which prints out pages of different colors and shape based on the amount of pollutants in the air (image on the left).
These types of innovations have not only brought about more attention to the environmental problems of the Earth but has brought new ideas of resolution to the issue such as the use of art and robotic devices. Therefore, the merging of technology and art has transformed the way we tackle the world’s problems today, for the better.
