I have recently come across an app that allows me to find people such as girlfriends, best friends! This app is called Bumble BFF, which they do have a section for actual online dating; like in comparison to Tinder.
Here's an article if you want to know more about the BFF section on the app, here.

If can't find it, here it is: thetab.com/us/2016/06/01/tried-bumble-bf...ly-youd-expect-10365

I don't need to online date due to me having a boyfriend. But I am in need of some girlfriends who want to soak up some sun, catch a few drinks, go to the beach, shopping, road-trips, brunch paired with mimosas, you know the usual!
I have given this app a go, and I am still on it. I think that it is an amazing concept because it allows me to find girl friends that will want to do the same things I like to do, that have the same mindset on life and friendships, etc. You get to swipe right if you want to match with the person (they have to swipe right as well in order to match), otherwise you can swipe left if you don't have any interest in them, or becoming friends with them. I have met a few friends on there and I can honestly call them my close friends now. I think this app honestly works wonders and is an amazing concept! I believe this app will probably end up having some competition later on in life with other apps coming along that will probably offer the same things, and obviously us girls will want to try all the apps out of course!

Hi Cierra! I have seen this app before and have actually been on it myself for the dating portion of it for a small period of time however I deleted the app shortly after. I'm so happy to hear that you have indeed found some close friends on this app! I do have some concerns with this new trend that is bound to start surfacing. Why is it that we need an app to make friendships? What happened to making friends in classes and at work or in the hobbies we do in our free time? Although I'm sure it works for some people, as you have pointed out, it is slightly concerning that society has such a disconnect from each other that we need a phone in between us in order to connect us. Especially with the added factors of growing cyber security concerns and catfishing, what else is really behind those profile pictures that we aren't aware of that could set us up for failure when we go out alone late at night thinking we're just meeting up with a couple buddies from the internet. Not to discourage people from being online totally, it's just food for thought when making decisions such as this.

As an Asian, In my country, South Korea, have plenty of dating apps. But people normally realize that there's such an apps like that. It is accepted that Asian are conservative that they don't want to expose themselves to people and online community. However, generation Z (birth 1990s-2010s) are open to social media. They also volunteer themselves to be exposed on online such as Facebook and Instagram to be famous. Just like you said, Asians always feel uncomfortable to have conversation face to face in generation Z unless they are close to each other or they know well each other. Having a conversation on online is alternative way to avoid uncomfortable feelings. Now a days, many people look for BF from the online dating apps because it's more awkward to meet face to face at first.
