This week I started watching American Housewife; it is a show about an overweight mother and stay at home wife.
The main character is very confident but sometimes does poke fun of herself because of her weight. She has 3 children; a teenage girl and girl and a younger girl in elementary school. She lives in a nice neighborhood with wealthy people. She is trying to raise her kids to be good people while being surrounded by privileged wealthy people.
She juggles with everyday day struggles of a mother while trying to fit in with her neighbors.
It is refreshing to see a protagonist in a show that does not have the cookie cutter body or slim physique. I think a lot more mothers can relate to this character and she is hilarious. I recommend this show to all my fellow moms.

I have heard about this show but I never did put any attention on it. By the looks of it, it seems like a funny show. I would like to know why you recommend it like what move you toward that. Is her character funny or the scenes she plays make you laugh?

I recommend it because she is very funny and it pokes fun at real issues that mothers can all relate to. Her character is also very real and down to earth.

I too just started watching this show and I absolutely love it! I think its admirable for a television network to finally portray a woman of a size other than size 0 as a major role and have her be confident in her body. I also really respect that they combat the issue of weight itself in age appropriate ways in case children and teens decide to watch as well. I feel like this is one of the first real times that a television show has actually allowed this to happen and I hope this continues to happen in the future.

Hello Bibiana,

I am not a mother myself, but even my mom with me being 20, almost 21 years old body shames herself. It just kills me deep down when my mother compares herself to others; she isn't plus sized nor is she a Barbie body women. All women should know that they are made they way they are for a reason, and that everyone's body is entirely different from the rest. Like a special snowflake; there is no other snowflake that looks like alike.

Good post and thought into it!
