This week I just finished watching a show on Netflix called "The 100". The show is about people who live in space because the Earth is presumed to be inhabitable. The center they live on in space is called "The Ark,". All crime on the Ark is punishable by death (unless you are under 18), which would be done by throwing their bodies into outer space, a process called "floating". If you are under 18, you are kept as a prisoner until your 18th birthday where you will be evaluated. Scientist discover that the Ark is running out of its oxygen supply, so the chancellor and counsel members of the Ark decide to send 100 people, majority of them being "prisoners", back to Earth to find out if it is habitable or not.
After a successful drop into Earth, the 100 must find ways to survive. They learn how to create their own civilization, hunt for food, and defend themselves. The 100 face many struggles being on Earth, because of other civilizations that are not okay with their presence. What I really like about this show is that all of the 100 are very young, and despite being young, they learn how to live on their own and for the most part are able to make good decisions that determine their well being. Another thing I really like about this show is that there is a huge emphasis on the strength of women.
The best leaders, fighters, and decision makers in the show are all women. Another bonus of this show is the amount of racial diversity present. Without the female characters, the characters in the show would definitely not survive. I don't think I've ever seen as show that has more positive and powerful female roles than this shows. I'm always here for great television shows that show positive representation of marginalized groups.

Hi Chidera, I watched the whole season of the 100, and I really like the show too the same reason as you. The main character of the show is a woman called Clarke, and she is the leader of a group. Also, another group, which is (was?) kind of enemy of Clarke's group, its leader is a woman. The show express how women's minds are needed and important to make a decision which we in this society are not able to contain even as an option. Also, I like the show because as a female, it is so satisfying to watch many accomplishment completed by women that not so often I could see in the real world.
