Recently UC Irivine announced that they would be opening an arena dedicated to e-sports. For those who dont know, e-sports essentially refers to professional gamers and teams that face off against each other in certain games such as League of Legends and Starcraft. This community has grown immensely since the invention of these sorts of games, so it comes as no surprise that a college is now starting to be the first in, what I believe, encouraging professional gamers with educational incentives. This also paves way for the legitimacy of these gaming professionals to be gained more widely in the public eye, and I look forward to how it grows out as time goes on.

I've been seeing an increase in the popularity of E-sports. So much that even some universities are supporting it. It will be interesting to see E-sports participating at an NCAA level.
