This week, I decided to revisit a favorite game of mine, Dead Space. This game has pretty much everything I could ever want, as far as storyline, cool weapons, and terrifying bad guys. This game came out in 2008, and really changed the genre of horror survival. This game became so popular for making people scream, that the ad campaign for the sequel was just the reactions of people watching clips from the game.

Something I found interesting is that this game is one of my girlfriend favorite games too. This was interesting because the marketing campaigns have always visibly geared towards males. Even the main character tends to be a role model for males.

There are three installments of the game and the first two are fantastic! The third, however, tends to everyones least favorite of the trilogy. The reasoning behind this is that the developers were trying to appeal to a larger mass, and make it more of a call of duty-esque shooter than a horror survival. This was probably not the best move for EA Games, because they lost a lot of the following they had for the first two games. There were plans being made of a 4th installment, but they have postponed release until further notice.
