27 year old Kristen De Pasquale has been charged for the murder of her one year old daughter. Last Thursday she called 911, saying that her 2 year old son Michael had strangled her daughter with Halloween lights. She said that she was showering and they were playing outside. When she stepped out she saw that her daughter had the Halloween lights around her neck and she tried to revive her but it wasn't successful. At first I thought that this story had been true because there has been cases in which siblings hurt each other.

After investigation, police found out that her story had been all a lie. The clues that she had left was that the shower was dry and her towels as well. These clues meant that she never stepped into the shower like she testified. Another clue was that the forensic said that it was impossible for a 2 year old toddler to have that much strength in order to kill another baby. After the police had enough evidence they were able to take her into custody because she had killed her own daughter.

2 year old Michael was taken into custody and temporarily is staying with a relative. The father of the children is in jail for other crimes not related to what just happened. During her fourth hearing, when the judge was telling her charges she seemed that she was out of it because she only said one word during the hearing. Lately there has been many cases in which mothers are killing their children for no reason. I think that if you don't want your kids anymore they should give it to the state or to another family member who take care of them.

What a terrifying story. I agree with you that it is ideal that "if you don't want your kids anymore they should give it to the state or to another family member who take care of them", however sometimes that is easier said than done. We don't usually know the full details, background, experiences of the mother. When I read these kinds of stories, as terrifying and unacceptable as they are, I always wonder what must have gone wrong. Mental/emotional issues, unresolved childhood issues, etc. Sometimes, people just "snap", and some people's actions are more extreme than others. I am, in no way at all, saying that this is okay or that they should be let "off the hook". What I guess I'm trying to say is that I, personally, get very curious about the psychology behind such heinous actions/crimes. This story, and all others like it, are definitely extremely saddening. I hope her two year old son Michael still can somehow grow up healthy and as close to a "normal life" as possible...

I can't believe that a mother would kill her own child.Parents are supposed to take care of their kids no matter what. It's funny that she actually thought that blaming her 2 year old would work. I'm glad that the 2 year old is somewhere safe. Hopefully the son finds a permanent home
